What is SSL ?

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. To avoid data theft from hackers, it is encrypted between the source (Server) and the destination (User). Google has mandated that all websites use SSL for security purposes. Otherwise, Google will display a warning reading The website is not secure or Not Secure, rendering the website untrustworthy.
